Siva Ananthan

Financial Controller

Siva joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2003 as Assistant Accountant and was promoted to Finance Controller in 2010. He currently looks after the project related accounting across the Sovereign Centros schemes.

He was previously with Chartwell Land plc and has more than 20 years accounting experience within the property industry. His expertise covers development and investment finance.

Jane Bearman

Finance Director

Jane joined the Sovereign Centros group in 1999 as Management Accountant.

Following Lionsgate’s purchase by Sovereign Land later that year, Jane became Financial Controller and was promoted to Finance Director of Sovereign Centros in 2009. She is responsible for all financial aspects of the Sovereign Centros group.

Jane started her career at ICL in 1989 while studying for her accountancy qualification. Post qualifying, she worked at La Porte plc and Wickes plc before joining Sovereign Centros.

Guy Beaumont

Director

Guy joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2010 and is Director of Development.

He currently oversees major development projects. His experience has included The Telford Centre, St. Enoch Centre in Glasgow and Trinity Walk Shopping Centre in Wakefield. He has also worked on the asset management of Mermaid Quay in Cardiff, the asset management and refurbishment of Ayr Central, and development and asset management of Trinity Walk.

After graduating in 2004, he worked at Sanderson Weatherall (valuation) and DTZ (professional & development) & Montagu Evans (general practice).

Guy has more than 14 years’ experience in the property industry.

Ben Cox

Leasing, Asset Development Management

Ben joined Sovereign Centros in 2020 from intu properties. He works as Senior Asset Manager for Metrocentre, one of the UK’s top shopping and leisure destinations.

He spent 6 years at intu, firstly as Senior Asset Manager for intu Eldon Square and subsequently Metrocentre from 2018. His role involves all aspects of leasing and asset management in addition to delivering development projects. Highlights have included the Grey’s Quarter scheme at Eldon Square.

Prior to intu, Ben was a Partner in Retail Agency at Sanderson Weatherall primarily responsible for leasing at Metrocentre and Eldon Square whilst also acting for other clients including Greggs and Co-op.

Ben is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and has 14 years post qualification experience.

Laura Dow

PA & Social Media

Laura joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2015 as a Personal Assistant and from 2018 also managing the social media profiles.

Laura is PA to John Marsh, Guy Beaumont and the wider team.

She has 10 years’ experience previously working in Recruitment and Facilities Management.

Matt Elgey

Leasing & Asset Manager

Matt joined Sovereign Centros Group in 2018 and works as a Leasing and Asset Manager across key shopping centre assets within the Sovereign Centros portfolio.

Prior to Sovereign Centros, Matt worked in the Asset Management team at intu Properties PLC responsible for intu Lakeside and intu Watford.

Having studied at Manchester and Reading, Matt has four years’ experience in the property industry.

Raife Gale

Asset & Development Management

Raife joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2017 and works as a Development and Asset manager.

Raife previously spent 6 years with CBRE where he specialised in Retail Development Consultancy, advising clients on development, planning and site assembly options on retail assets across the UK.

Raife qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2012 and has over 7 years’ experience in the property industry.

Chris Geaves

Chief Executive

Chris joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2009 as Chief Executive.

With 30 years’ experience in the UK marketplace Chris has originated and overseen many major transactions in this time, including the corporate acquisition and integration of Centros into the Sovereign business as well as two of the largest acquisitions in the UK, Glasgow St Enoch Shopping Centre and Elephant & Castle in central London, which will become one of the largest and most significant regeneration projects in the capital.

Since 2010 Chris has implemented ambitious development and asset management strategies which have delivered significant rental and capital value growth for Sovereign’s partners in the portfolio under management.

Previously Head of Retail Capital Markets and Senior Equity Partner of Strutt & Parker, Chris has built a nationwide reputation as a market leader in the investment and development sectors with a particular expertise in shopping centres and retail parks.

Chris has a huge network of contacts and a very wide and varied investor base, including some of the most prominent UK institutions and property companies as well as major US investors and other public and private sector groups.

Chris was selected by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) to sit on its National “Young Achievers” Committee as representative for the property industry.

Jack Gordon

Asset & Development Management

Jack joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2016 and works as a Development and Asset Manager, having experience on many projects across the Sovereign Centros portfolio.

Prior to Sovereign Centros, Jack worked in Valuations at Allsop LLP across a broad range of commercial property and has experience in L&T and Receivership strategy.

Having studied at Exeter and Reading, Jack qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2014 and has over 5 years’ experience in the property industry.

Graeme Jones

Leasing, Asset & Development Management

Graeme joined Sovereign Centros Group in September 2018 as a Senior Asset and Development Manager.

He is a qualified chartered surveyor with 21 years of post-qualification experience across Asset Management and Development on both the agency and client side of the UK property industry.

He moved from Land Securities where he worked as a Portfolio Manager with the Shopping Centre team with primary responsibility for all aspects of asset and leasing management on Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow. Prior to this Graeme was Head of Asset Management at Steamrock Capital and spent seven years with Lend Lease as both an asset and development manager working on various assets including Golden Square, Warrington Shopping centre and The International Quarter in Stratford.

Prior to that Graeme worked as a Partner for Bidwells in Cambridge in the Fund Management team responsible for the property assets of a number of the Cambridge College portfolios and a number of private individual clients.

Susannah Maas

PA & Recruitment

Susannah joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2009 as a Personal Assistant.

Susannah is PA to Chris Geaves, Chief Executive and the wider team.

She was previously at Strutt and Parker and has worked in the property industry for over 15 years.

John Marsh

Director

John joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2004 and is a Director of Development.

With more than 25 years’ experience in retail property, John has developed close working relationships with many of the country’s leading retailers and property institutions.

His experience includes developing retail schemes across the UK in locations including London, Manchester, Bristol, Wakefield, Hove, Shrewsbury, Nottingham and Preston.

John previously held the post of development director at Chartwell Land, and before that he was a director of the developer Southern & City Property Group.

John was also a member of the Accessible Retail Committee for several years.

Paul Miller

Development, Redevelopment & Planning

Paul joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2018 as a Development and Procurement Consultant

Paul has worked within the retail and distribution sectors for over 30 years heading up many retail strategy, property development and construction teams. With careers at B&Q, BAA, Sainsbury’s and Netto, Paul has been responsible for the acquisition, development and construction of retail food and non-food stores and distribution facilities throughout the UK. He has also worked in Taiwan studying building design in the Far East and China, where he spent two years researching future international retail landscapes.

Paul has worked for many senior retail leaders and is passionate about retail operations, the future shopping environment and how bricks and mortar stores remain as important as ever in an evolving shopping climate.

Ben Moffett

Senior Commercial Accountant

Ben Joined Sovereign Centros group in February 2021 as Senior Commercial Accountant .

Amongst other projects he will have responsibility for the Metrocentre, one of the UK’s top shopping and leisure destinations.

Ben spent a number of years at intu Properties PLC, where he was the lead Commercial Accountant on 4 assets including intu Lakeside and Watford, as well as two joint ventures. Ben covered all aspects of commercial finance for the assets, including the opening of two major asset extension projects and the creation and structuring of joint ventures.

Prior to intu Ben spent ten years abroad where he studied finance and worked for the New York Red Bulls.

Tom Nuttall

Asset Manager

Tom joined Sovereign Centros in April 2020 as an asset manager to work across a variety of the team projects.

Prior to Sovereign Centros, Tom worked at Grosvenor Fund Management in Paris and Workman LLP, advising clients on the management and strategy for a range of commercial property asset classes. Tom studied at the University of Nottingham and Reading. He is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and has 4 years’ experience in the property industry.

Zayna Over

Leasing & Asset Manager

Zayna is a qualified chartered surveyor and asset manager with 7 years experience.

Zayna joined Sovereign from intu where she was Senior Asset Manager responsible for Milton Keynes shopping centre where her role included all aspects of leasing and strategy including development projects.

She has also been responsible for intu Victoria Centre and intu Broadmarsh, Nottingham (combined 1,500,000 sq ft) with sole responsibility for the leasing and asset management of both as well as involvement in the development of intu Broadmarsh.

Prior to this Zayna assisted on the asset management of The Glades Shopping Centre, Bromley.

Paul Parkinson

Investment

Paul Parkinson joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2018 as an Offices and Business Space Consultant.

Paul has over 30 years’ experience in the property industry starting his career at CBRE and going on to work at St Quintin. In 1997 he joined Portfolio Holdings, a UK property company chaired by Sir John Beckwith. He became Chief Executive of the company, during which time assets under management increased from £50 million to £1 billion. Apollo Investors purchased Portfolio Holdings and Paul moved across to join their European board with a remit to invest in the UK and the mainland.

In 2006 Paul was headhunted by Beacon Capital to set up and run their London office. Beacon invested £1.5 billion in central London offices over a three-year period. Since 2010 Paul has worked on many joint venture and consultancies with major private equity funds.

Simon Phipps

Leasing & Asset Management

Simon joined the Sovereign Centros group in January 2015 and works as a Senior Asset and Development Manager.

Simon oversees asset management and leasing strategy at key Sovereign Centros Schemes. Simon has also been involved in anchor retailer lettings due to his extensive experience.

He joined from M&G Real Estate where he was a Director within the retail asset management team for over seven years. Prior to that he was an asset manager at both Aviva (formerly Morley) and LaSalle Investment Management where he first developed his expertise in the retail property market.

Simon has over 10 years’ experience in the retail market place. His experience has included full asset management responsibilities for eight shopping centres across the UK as well as retail warehouse parks and high street properties.

David Sadler

Senior Analyst

David joins Sovereign Centros group in January 2021 as Senior Analyst.

Before joining, David was a Partner at Cushman & Wakefield in the Retail Capital Markets team. Prior to that he was a founder member and director of Coady Supple Limited, a real estate investment agency that, between 2011 and 2019, advised on the sale or purchase of 47 assets (including 39 shopping centres) with a capital value in excess of £1.6bn.

David has also worked as an investment analyst at Franc Warwick Chartered Surveyors and as a financial accountant for the Burford Group PLC.

David qualified as a chartered accountant in 1994 and has gained over 25 years of experience in the property industry since graduating from the University of Exeter with a degree in English Literature.

James Simpson

Development Manager

James joined Sovereign Centros in November 2018 as Development Manager with a focus on residential projects.

James is an MRICS qualified Planning & Development Surveyor and joined Sovereign Centros from a PRS residential developer-investor based in East London. Here, James built a specific skill set in the design, analysis, delivery and funding of bespoke Build to Rent schemes. His role was split across development management and investment analysis of the wider portfolio including appraising future investment opportunities and business planning. James has a robust understanding of the residential market and specific expertise in development management, planning and viability analysis of residential projects.

Prior to this James spent 4 years at a market leading real estate consultancy providing primarily residential focused development and investment advice to both public and private sector clients.

Michael Thomas

Leasing, Asset & Development Management

Michael joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2017 and works as a Senior Leasing and Asset Manager. Michael provides strategic advice to partners on key projects.

He was most recently at Land Securities where he spent 3 years as a Portfolio Manager within the Shopping centre team, with primary responsibility for all aspects of asset and leasing management on White Rose in Leeds. Prior to this Mike was an asset manager at Lend Lease working on Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.

Before returning to the UK in 2012, Michael gained international experience working as a Vice President in the Property Asset Management department for Jones Lang Wootton in Malaysia. Earlier on in his career, Michael was an Associate Partner at Doherty Baines in Mayfair providing a wide range of asset management advice on mixed use portfolios across the UK.

He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2007 and has over 14 years’ experience in the property industry.

Giles Thomas

Industrial & Logistics

Giles joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2017 as an Industrial and Logistics Consultant.

His role is to work within the distribution warehouse market given its cross over of occupiers and investors with the retail sector.

Giles has over 30 years’ experience having previously worked on developments for Arlington (now Goodman) at Hatfield, Stevenage, Coventry and Gloucester and acting for the Co Op Food Group on their distribution portfolio. Giles set up and ran the industrial team at Strutt & Parker (now BNP), then 6 years at Deloitte’s in a consultancy role and is with Matthews & Goodman as a Partner in their Business Space team.

Luke Winstanley

Director

Luke joined the Sovereign Centros group in 2014 and is the Director of Investment.

He has been heavily involved in Sovereign Centros’ expanding investment and development programme, working on a number of successful projects including the acquisitions of One Stop Perry Barr and Corby Town Centre.

Prior to joining, Luke worked at Savills for 6 years and was involved in numerous shopping centre acquisition and disposal instructions as an Associate Director in the Retail Investment team.

Luke qualified as a chartered surveyor in 2010 and has gained over 10 years of experience in the property industry since graduating from the University of Warwick with an Engineering degree.
